Roe deer

The Roe deer can be found throughout England and some parts Europe and the Midlands, they stand between 60-75 cm at the shoulder with bucks, (male deer), weighing between 24 and 30 kg, and doe, (female deer), weighing 2-6 kg lighter than the buck. Their coats ranges from dark brown to charcoal gray, and also chestnut brown. The Buck grows a small rack with up to 2- 6 points and can run up to 45 mph. The doe does not grow a rack, but has up to 2-3 fawn, (baby deer), a year, and can run up to 32-35 mph. Roe deer have a lifespan of 15-20 years and like to live in mostly woodland with plenty of low vegetation and clearings. The Roe deer is an amazing animal and is a pretty cool deer to hunt and observe.

Moose

Moose are found in Alaska, Canada, Colorado and, Europe. They are generally found near streams and ponds where there are willows, water Lilly’s and woody plants. The male moose weighs about 360-600 kg and the female moose weighs about 270-400 kg. They stand 7.87-10.5 feet tall and can measure up to 2 meters long in total width. Moose have very thick, brown fur that almost looks black in color. The moose are amazing creatures and are the biggest of the deer family, it is fascinating to learn there patterns and the way live.

Venison Shephard’s Pie

1/4 stick of butter,
2 medium chopped onions
3 -4 cups chopped venison
1 tbls. Italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
3 cups mashed potatoes (homemade tastes best)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Melt butter in a skillet. Add onions and cook for 3-4 min. Add venison and seasonings and cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring a few times. Add the broth, cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Pour meat mixture into a 9 inch baking dish. Cover mixture with mashed potatoes. Top with cheese and bake at 350 degrees until cheese is melted.

Elk

Elk live in the Rocky Mountains, Alaska and other parts of the United States,and Canada. Elk are large animals with conspicuous ears and a small beige tail. The Bull,(male elk), weighs 600-1089 pounds, while the Cow ,(female elk),weighs 450-650 pounds. Their height is 4 1/2-5 1/2 feet at the shoulder, and their length is 6 3/4-8 feet, the bull is most the time 1 foot taller than Cow. Their color is dark reddish-brown with a chess-nut neck and mane. In late summer the coat changes its brownish-gray winter color. An old bull’s antlers may be 5 feet long and weigh 25-40 pounds. After 11 or 12 years of age the bull’s antlers decline in quality and become smaller in size. Elkare wonderful animals, and are beautiful creators that God has given us.It’s fascinating to learn and watch elk and the nature around them.

White-tailed Deer

The white-tailed deer is found over most of North and Central America and northern parts of
South America. It lives in farm land, marshes, and even deserts. White-tail deer are large animals and weigh 70-300 pounds and stand 3 1/2 feet high to the shoulders. The Buck, (male deer),have an average weight of 165-220 ,and grow,and shed antlers every year, growing a larger rack every time. The Doe, (female deer), has an average weight of about 100-175 pounds and does not grow antlers, but have 2-3 fawns,(baby deer), every year. White-tailed deer have good eyesight and accurate earring, but depend mainly on their sense of smell to detect danger. They are the most nervous and shy deer in the united states, and have a lifespan of 8-10 years in the wild.

Mule Deer

The Mule deer, also known as “Burro deer”, can be found in western regions of Canada, western united states.They live in mountains, forests, plains and grasslands. Their height is 1metre (3 feet) to the shoulders. They are usually gray with white patches on there face , throat and around the tail. The buck, (male deer), antlers are velvety in the summer and fork into two branches, and shed during January-march. The mule deers weight is 125-330, their length with tail is about 5 1/2 feet long, and their lifespan is 8-10 years in the wild. They can leap 8 yards with all four feet coming down together, and can reach 45 m.p.h. for short periods of time. The Mule deer is an amazing, and wonderful deer,and is well known throughout the united states and Canada.
